Mischief managed.

3D printed base plate with a delrin cartridge. This one accepts 5/8" custom mandrels which is my standard size mandrel so I can swap in and out for different parts as needed. Just leave the stock long enough for a center drill for the tailstock support and turn it off at the lathe when you're ready.

Easily interchanges with the stock mandrel holder. Just swap the brass plunger or in my case I just bought extras from McMaster.

Definitely has some potential.

Saw the body on your IG page earlier today. I have fluting jig that I use for fluted bodies, etc but there is no way to control the rotation starting point. Mine is static only. I thought about buying the Wizard, and now wish I would have done so.

So, from one without a 3D printer; but an order in for the Pen Wizard, will you be marketing this adapter?

I can share the cad file next time I'm near my computer but I sent it to somebody else to do the 3D print for me. For those that don't have a printer available he may be willing to charge a small fee to print them but I can't speak on his behalf.

It may be beneficial to actually print it with the cylinder already an integral part. It wouldn't be too hard to modify the file with another extrusion and a couple of holes. I did mine out of a piece of Delrin cuz I happen to have it. My original prototype was using acrylic for the base plate.

I would not be opposed to paying for the part being printed as the original or with the barrel attached which would probably be. the better offer all around even tho it would increase the cost. Please keep me informed.

So I have an STL file and a drawing to go with it to make sure everything is sized right for the print. The STL is for a version that has the chuck built in to accept 5/8" custom mandrels.

There are a few parts you'll have to order from McMaster or your preferred hardware supplier. The main things you'll need is a press in threaded insert for the plunger and some sort of M5 set screw. Either a grub screw or any other form of M5x0.8 screw. The part list is in the drawing.

I can add them to a google drive or drop box tomorrow unless someone knows how to get them into the IAP library.

I was the one who printed the part for Carl. If anyone is interested in having that part printed I would be happy to help out.
Just let me know and I will get it going.
The first one is free, a second one is gonna cost ya! šŸ˜Ž
