Has anyone here had any experience with a "thing" called MyFi for connecting to the internet? How does it work and how well does it work and how fast (slow) is it.

Thanks

That's what we use, the speed is pretty good if you get the 4G connection. I can't really say how it handles downloads and videos, we have a 10 gigabyte a month plan for 8 people so we avoid things like that. Bottom line: it works well but bogs down if 4-5 devices are using it at once.

To the best of my knowledge MyFi is a satellite radio (ie XM or Serius). I have one. It's claim to fame is that it is a portable, and has docking stations for house use and car use. You can also carry it and listen to XM while walking or working out. Mine is almost 10 years old and except for having to replace the battery, it is still going strong. Info here

You may be talking about mifi.

It is a cellular phone driven hotspot router. It works off the cellular phone network, puts out a wifi signal that your computer can hook into. You have to pay monthly data charges similar to a smartphone. Many smartphones have this capability built into them and can be used as hotspots themselves. Info here
