I'm trying to watch some of Ed Davidson tutorials and my "windows media player" craps out part through anything I want to watch. Am MPG file goes about 30% through and a WMV file goes about halfway. What do you use to watch long tutorials in MPR or WMV files?

Scott, Sounds like I've got the same basic setup as you, Windows 7 64 bit with media player. Which videos were you trying to watch? I'll try to watch on my system and see if they work. Perhaps that will help narrow down the problem.

Carl

Scott,
I just watched the 3D EPR DoHicky's video, first one in the library, start to end with no problems.

Are you letting it buffer sufficiently?

Try starting the video, pausing it for a few miuntes, then watching it. Another option would be to just download the video and try watching it off your hard drive.

Carl, I was watching Ed Davidson's videos on turning 3D bottle stoppers.
Fibonacci I am having trouble downloading the videos but that is what I am trying to do. Thanks all.

I also run 64 bit Windows. VLC Media Player runs fine with it. Most 32 bit programs will run in 64 bit Windows except for device drivers and some of the more specialized programs such as antivirus programs.

Sometimes I have to download video files that stream from slow servers to prevent buffering errors. Plug-ins for your browser usually work well for this. I run Firefox and use DownloadHelper to download content in these situations. From the library here you can just right click and "save the link as".

I'm with Dave, I love VLC! It plays everything. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and VLC works just fine.

Scott.

I downloaded VLC and I downloaded the tutorials from the library and now everything runs all the way through. Thanks everyone for the help. By the way Ed Davidson makes the most understandable tutorials I have seen so far. They are great.
