Help!
For reasons that need no explanation (dumba$$ - itis) I accidentally deleted the pictures on my camera SD card. Called around my area for help but computer repair stores are closed until Monday.
My question...are SD card files recoverable like computer hard drive files that are never really deleted? I have not touched the card since the pictures were taken (other than to screw the files up).
Thank you~
Bob

Oh I am interested in this question as well. When they say do not disconnect the device from the computer before you format it they mean it. I am pretty sure they are gone into cyber space and only can be seen by aliens. My sources told me this.

No, they're completely recoverable. I accidentally deleted the wrong card, and was able to find a program that recovered all of them.

I'm heading out to brunch with my family, but I'll look for the program name when I get back...it's written on a piece of paper around here somewhere.

Thank you......these all give me hope. Not knowing one way or the other is the worst part. Google SD CARD recovery and the responses are mind boggling. Computer hard drives are easy, you'd think a tiny SD card would be too....NOT..
Thank you
Bob

Does this include when you take the SD card out of the computer before you hit save?? That is what someone I know did. Now no photos show when I ( I mean they) reinstall the card. I have another card that has a ton of photos on it and i want to copy a few but am afraid to attempt because I can not afford to lose them.

Their is no save for SD cards, you can have Windows eject them which finishes all read/write operations. That shouldn't be a factor however. I have recovered files for others before and never had an issue.

I maybe miswording it. When you plug some external device in and you want to remove it from the computer you hit a little icon and it tells you that it is now safe to remove the device. I did not do this when I removed an SD card and now the photos do not load when I try to plug the card back in. How do I get those photos back??? Are they still on the card or are they lost for good???

My apologies for not posting my appreciation and progress.
I only had a few minutes to spare but briefly tried a couple of the ones that were recommended. One got all the way to the end and I could see my pictures (YAY) but then it asks me to "buy the license" for $39.95 before it will let me save the pics - oh, so close, tease ! Started to use another one and got pulled away with some of the BASH stuff. I have not given up and really appreciate everyone's input. Like I said earlier, it gives me hope that they are recoverable.
Thank you to all~
Bob

I did the exact same thing as Bob just now. I used the Sandisc recovery program and it too was the same thing. Shows the photos and then you have to buy something to save them. My one card had nothing on it. I must have deleted them somehow. The other card did not have anything important so I may just clean that card out too. Will have to take another look for sure. It is a small file card so only 21 photos on it.

What was so funny was that the one card that now has zero photos had a bunch of photos of me in my shop a couple years ago and I was going to add them to my album. But as it turns out I must be too damn ugly it broke the card:eek:Yikes.

Give me a bit guys, I might have an actual free program that would work. I haven't done this using windows for years.

The one you gave us (Zars) is now cooking.....stay tuned (it's not the one that asked for payment)
..it's not the one that asked for payment.
Thank you Levi

Recuva - free, effective, and saves your files.

No fee!

This one worked!!!! Andrew, thank you!

I ran both programs simultaneously and this one recovered the pics.
The Zars program recovered them but they were scrambled.

Both of you......THANK YOU, you made me keep at it. Normally I'd just say Oh Well, and move along.

I'm glad that all worked out. BUT you should backup any cell phone, tablet, or camera storage (BOTH internal and external) to a safe location. I have an external drive that I put in a fireproof lock box.

Oh; Did I mention that you should check the backup to make sure it has the files you think it has?????

Late to this chat, but I'm another fan of recuva... And the #1 tip for anyone who asks - it MIGHT be able to recover some after a card is used, but it is VERY likely to be able to recover if you do NOTHING after you realize the delete. The more a card is used, the less likely a recovery.

Bob and JT - I'll expect some cash in the mail - commensurate with the value of the pictures! Maybe a lathe or two as well!

(just kidding, of course - glad it worked out! It saved some pictures that I thought were lost forever, and it's the only free one that I could find!)

Hopefully it helps others, too!

Totally worth it. What kind of lathe? Go stand by the curb and keep an eye out for the truck.
Thank you again!

Geez, it's cold out there. Hopefully it didn't come when I came in to type this!

Hang in there I am almost finished building it. I just got the plans

I'd totally use that ! (but what's with the knee-high plaid socks in the picture?)

Not sure I stole the photo off the net. I was looking for the one where the guy was turning using his feet and he was in the street somewhere. The crudest lathe you ever wanted to see but this works:biggrin:

Hey John, I recall that "foot" lathe too, It can be found here.

Wow JD that is it. Nice call. Just amazing how some things stick in your brain. Been some time since I seen that. Now that is talent. I couldn't do what he does with a full blown cnc machine:biggrin:
