I know that some of you use 3M AirStream or BreatheEasy respirators.

I finally got around to making a video that shows the way I am using an alternative to the stock 3M NiCad battery.

This tiny rechargeable lithium battery lasts longer, and is a small fraction of the weight and cost of the original.

Because of its size and USB connectors, it lends itself to mounting on the helmet, eliminating a cord going to your belt.
I hope this gives some folk ideas for use in their own configurations.

Absolutely awesome.
First, thank you for taking the time to so properly present and share your smart idea.
Second, in terms of your voice over, clarity, and general presentation, this is one of the best how to video I've seen. You should do this professionally! ( if you don't already)
Third, please forgive me if I'll show this video left and right when trying to sell the 3m airstreams I still have left!
Edit:
Of course I'll try the mod on my own airstream 3m.
Will keep you posted!

This is a little off topic, but does anybody know where to buy the airstream for less than $600?

This helmet seems to outperform all the competition, but the best price I can find is twice that of the trend pro.

Thanks.

Alex,

You are most welcome. I thought you'd get a kick out of the way I powered the AirStream I got from you.

As for the recording, you might be amused to know that I shot this entirely on my iPhone 4s mounted on a tripod. There are no commercially available iPhone tripod mounts that do what I want, so I fabricated one of my own design, and it works out well.

There are two quick shots (when I was explaining what the AirStream is) that are not quite in focus, but I didn't think it warranted reshooting that short portion.

I do have several other ways of making videos... DSLR cameras, hi-def video tape cameras, web cams, etc., but the iPhone does a fine job on these kinds of videos.

When I need higher quality, I use external audio recorders and dedicated microphones, and sync the audio in post production.

Cool, geeky stuff < vbg >
