A luminous and talented local cellist gave me this challenge: "make me a musical portrait with which I can practice, perform, and harmonize".
The ceramophone idea sprang to mind - as shown in my earlier post:

She wanted a life drawing for "freshness", no photos allowed - so she posed for one hour as I scratched carefully through the thin layer of porcelain back to the dark clay on the leather-hard vase that I had thrown 2 days earlier (sgraffito technique using tooth picks, dental tools, fiberglass brush, and steel wool). Reminds me of wood turning - no erasures - no going back. I made the conical pine wood speaker as explained in the earlier post.
She likes it - records one line of music into her cell phone, then beams it wirelessly to the ceramophone as she harmonizes a second line. I urged her not to replace the other members of her string quartet.
