I was commissioned to make 3 very interesting, albeit mind boggling designed pens for a very clever Polymer chemist in the states, using the below picture as my guide representing the molecular composition of a Thermoplastic Polyurethane they have created.

Machined from aluminium, etched, and hand painted with acrylic enamel.

Thanks for looking

(I hope everyone's well)

Where have you been??? We miss all this cool stuff. As always first rate. Lets get the gang back together here.

Good to see you Brad !!!!

You certainly landed a challenging commission job !!!! . And it certainly looks like you are doing it remarkably well !!!!

I will claim to be the source of this commission. My wife is the project lead and named patent author (filed, patent pending). She has been down the road many, many times for projects that she has spearheaded and they never get to production/market.

But his one is!

I have little ability to explain the nuances of it, but the current market is for the Urethane to have drug delivery uses for long-term wound care. An example is for burn victims to have a dressing with the medications impregnated into the dressing, which thus does not need to be repeatedly taken off and replaced.

Now, for the pen! The colored dots and squiggly lines are meaningless to my non-chemistry mind; BUT, my wife showed the pictures to two colleagues and they immediately recognized it as their project foundation - So, WELL DONE BRAD!

Brad is making 3 etched pens for my wife (herself, and the two other project leads).

Many thanks all

It's been nice to get back into the shop again, and this one tested my photoshopping to replicate the pattern into a mask for the etching process lol.

It's been a delight to make these for Mark & Nancy

This is great news on several levels...!!!!

The pen....
The project....
The recipients....

But mostly now we know Brad hasn't fallen off the edge of the earth and is ok!!!

It's a win, win, win......
