Woodworking is my hobby and welding is my career. I am a shop foreman now but still like to get under the hood from time to time. So for this project. I decided to cut up some strips of schedule 10 stainless steel pipe and hammer them flat and form them into flower petals. After that I took a scotch brite pad and roughed up the surface. The alternate petals are made of copper. The stem and leaves are stainless steel tubing brushed the same way. To combine the interestes, I made a base out of curly maple. This is going to be a gift for my mother.

That's really neat!
Good that you're able to use both skills...my secondary hobby is only good for either when I'm not planning on being in the shop or cleaning the shop (which happens occasionally) ---> Beer and power tools don't mix at the same time. But a good homebrew will get you through cleanup!
