I am interested in buying a collet chuck.
Today when I was in the Woodcraft store the sales person showed me their Turner Collet Chuck set which fits in the #2 morse taper. The Beall collet chuck fits on the threaded spindle.
Is the morse taper arrangement less precise than the threaded spindle?
The price of the Woodcraft set is about 1/2 of the Beall price.

Thank you for your input.

Larry,
I'll say I had one of the MT2 Woodcraft chucks,
and was not too thrilled.
The collet nut had to be returned, too loose of
threads. Then,it had runout issues, the taper inside
where the collet seats was out of concentric to
the rest of it,about .006 runout.
I'm sure there are some good ones though.
It also takes an odd collet size,so if you want to
get another size that's not included,be ready to pay.
I never was happy, with the Woodcraft chuck, and ended up getting a Beall.
The Beall is a very good unit.no complaints.[^]

Take a look at the new collet chuck that PSI has come out with....similar to the Beall; but with an apparent important improvement. About half the price of the Beall. I have seen only one user report which was favorable; but we really don't have an idea of how good (or bad) they are yet.
