Email or call Woodcraft and ask them. They can't be ER20s because they only go up to 1/2". Might be ER25s or they might be a proprietary size. Haven't got a clue.
The dimensions of TG collets are shown here. I'll try to remember to pull out my woodcraft set when I get home and measure them to see if they are a match.
Well, it is obvious that no one knows the answer to this question or they are not telling so I got tired of waiting and called the technicians at Woodcraft. The guy told me they had been asked this question about 6 months ago and were told by someone that the collets were ER32 "compatible." I explained to him why I thought that might be in error and he volunteered to pull a set from the warehouse shelves and measure them up to see which series they actually were or if they are a proprietary size. He is going to email me with the results of his investigation in the next day or two so we should have a definitive answer shortly.
Here is a chart which purports to show the dimensions for many standard collet series. There is no series that matches the dimensions that Steve collected for his Woodcraft collets.
That would suggest the WC collets are a proprietary set unless something else is going on that we don't understand??
The Woodcraft tech got back to me this afternoon and said the collet measurements did not match any known standard sized collet that he could discover. That suggests these are a special size made just for the Woodcraft collet chuck. He said he would continue to do a little more research and notify me of any interesting discoveries.
At this point, it doesn't matter much if they are proprietary, or not. Since they are not a common size, buying additional collets to fill the holes is going to be prohibitively expensive.
