Cogs, Gears, pulleys and gauges

I wont go as far as to say steam punk, as that would need some brass and copper in my opinion, Though I've etched some cogs, gears, pulleys and a pressure gauge to the lid.

Completely chrome plated

Kitless double closed end.

hm I'm still finding where my limitations are with this process lol. This design uncovered an ugly one but it is controllable.

That is an interesting idea Brad. Some fine etched detail behind/on some of the parts on my pens could give some interesting results.

you could etch the brass tubes which come with the kits, you should be pleased with the results. You would just need to seal the inside of the tubes to make sure they are not etched from the back. wax would work fine so long as you regulated the temp of the ferric chloride. use vinyl stickers for your masking on the outside, and dip it in boiling water for a few seconds which tightens the vinyl adhering it to the piece.. its the key part which stops the edges peeling

Brad that pen is just crazy. Nice work. Does the etching solution eat away the material or do you use a CNC or something then just etch it after that? Again, amazing work.

Chris, the etchant dissolves the metal where I have not protected it. I don't use CNC machines
