My daughter asked for stackable wooden coasters for Christmas so I made some out of cherry and padauk. These were surpringly hard. I tried to use techniques from an article in an old American Woodturner which involved turning the coasters individually and remounting to turn the back side. Invariably, my remounts were slightly off center and my coasters were not perfectly uniform. I finally scraped that approach and did it my way. I also made another set of offcenter salt shakers.
