I have shopped long and hard for a CMS and finally settled on the Makita LS0714 7 1/2" slider.
I hooked it up to the shop vac and cut up some 2x2 as a trial. Out of the box everything was right on, the factory supplied blade is excellent and the dust collection is fantastic.
I give it 5 stars.

Dick,

Congratulations on the new saw. I picked up one a couple of years ago to replace an old wore-out 10" CMS. My experience is the same as yours---dead on accuracy right out of the box. It has held up very well, and the light-weight is a great bonus if you move it around. I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

Dick,
I too, have that saw and have had the same experience. It is a great tool. I originally put it on a middle of the road stand, I recently upgraded those and it is even more awesome.

I just replaced the blade after about 4 years with a Frued CMS blade, it is an improvement after the old duller blade.

Your shop looks great in the background, how about more photos?

Mike, here is a tour of the shop. It is 1/2 of a two car garage and is a work in progress. All of the heavy stuff is on mobile bases so they can be moved as necessary. I used a Delta T2 fence on the TS rather than the DW fence and added an Incra miter gauge. I didn't have room for a router table so I made brackets and hung it from the TS rails. The CMS is in a temporary location until I come up with something better.

Dick,
That is a great shop! My shop is in the garage and I too, have most everything on wheels. I push it all into one stall and spread it out when I want to use it. The difference between my shop and yours is, YOURS IS REALLY CLEAN!!! WHITE TOO!

A couple things, I have a similar Delta DC..except mine is "pre" cannister...I modified it to take the clear dust collection bag, but is it worth that $200 for the cannister? Then, I have an old Craftsman Bandsaw, like 1948, I have worked on it some: tires, 1/4 cool blocks, Rockler table, and light....I have really never used a new or good saw, is that worth it? Is it noticable?

Thanks for taking the time to show us your shop--I like getting ideas!!

I really like the canister but it is an expensive conversion. You might look around for a 1 micron upper bag to fit your DC it will probably work just as well and be a lot cheaper.

I doubt that a new saw is any better than a properly tuned old saw with a good blade.
