Well, I made more progress tonight and ended up taking rgundersen's advise. I took the treadmill motor apart and chucked it into my metal lathe and took .027" off the motor shaft to take a 5/8" pulley. I am glad I did it this way after all. I was just a little nervous about messing the motor up and having to buy a new one. I also have the bracket cut to fit, next step is to start to mount the VS motor to the pre-1940's lathe.
The bracket was filled with Paduck to give it a little extra strength when I bolt it to the underside of the table. Using the treadmill frame chunk for the bracket gives me a very nice adjustment. I put the order in for the pulley tonight. It is getting very close!
