I was sharpening my Crown 3/4" spindle gouge on a Slow speed grinder and I got the tip a little too hot so I stuck the first 2" of the gouge in some room temp water and "WHAM" the gouge turned a dull grey color. Does this mean that the temper (?) of the HSS steel has been affected? Thank you in advance for your help.
