I am wanting to get into closed end penmaking, especially upper end pen styles. What do you use for the center components as a quality assembly that won't break the bank? It seems ridiculous to use a costly kit to throw away a big part of the kit.

Thanks for all suggestions.

With only the body end going to the spare parts bin, I have never worried much about the extra parts -- especially with higher end value situations.

Double closed end leaves the finial left in the parts bin - not a big deal to me. The clip can be an "invisible clip" installation -

Most of my closed end pens are desk pens - with the base being installed as a closed end cap.

Baron and Jr Gent style kits are the logical choices . They are relatively inexpensive to use as donor kits . Chrome Barons are durable and inexpensive for the coupling parts and also can be used for the finial and clip or just the clip as well . Copper Jr Retro kits are on closeout for $7.50 and would make great Donor kits for larger pens .
