In the spring of 1864 the decision was made to move the Richmond
Carbine Factory from Richmond to a more secure location in Tallassee, Alabama
The factory soon occupied the 1844 cotton mill in Tallassee and began
manufacturing cavalry carbines. The factory stands as the only
Confederate armory to survive the Civil War. This pen is made of
wood from this factory. It is heart pine.
Turned well. Sanded to 400. 4-5 coats of CA, MM wet to 12000 and a couple coats of Ren wax. Blanks are complements of our fellow pen turner papNal of Tallassee, Al. Thanks John.
