Here is the 1st civil war kit I've made. I used olive wood from down under and filled the voids with turquoise. The finish is CA with some hut wax to complete.

That's not my normal finish process either Joe, but I wanted to tone it down a bit for this kit. My norm. is about 10 coats of CA, wet sanded up to 12000 grit and finished with a bit of plastic polish. On this one I wanted to put enough CA on it to seal off the open grain and the turquoise fillers. About 6 coats, and then sanded it up to 1000 grit dry. The Hut friction wax was then applied and buffed up to a nice shine.Hut wax over CA? I've never heard of doing that before, but the end result looks really nice!
Nope, just a coincidence. This pen is slated for a christmas gift for a co-worker.With the anniversary of Chickamauga coming up next weekend are you planning on doing anything special with this pen?
I picked up the turquoise from Bear Tooth Woods, here is a link to the product Bear Tooth Woods - Turquoise - Large (Man Made) Crushed Filler - 10gWhere do you get the Turquoise from for filling the voids?
