A couple weeks ago I posted a question of what wood comes from Botswana, as I wanted to make a pen for a pastor friend that has done some work down there. Two of the people responding offered to send me a piece, so I decided to give him two pens.
The wood for this first pen came from Doug (Stick Rounder). It came from a carving of a Rhino he purchased while in Botswana when he was in the Army. The carver told him it was ebony. I have trouble telling the difference between my skew and gouge, so I don't know.
The second pen I am still working on will be from a piece of Mopani from its Virgil. Will post when it is finished. My wife told me it is yard work day today, so it won't be for a couple more days.
Many thanks to Doug and Don, I can't wait to hear what Russ thinks of them.
