Cigar made with Spalted Guava

In September I bought a couple of Spalted Guava blanks from (@ZanderPommo ) - He gave me advance notice that they are a little tricky to turn - you get tearout, and sometimes a blowout, sometimes both.

I finally got around to turning a pen with one of the blanks. I had a blowout (picture me crawling on my hands & knees searching for the pieces that broke off - I was able to find most of them). I think due to the cellular nature of the blank it was challenging to get it round - it had a lot of flat spots.

Anyway, this is not the best pen I have made, but it is certainly one of the more interesting ones.

Love the look of spalted guava, very unique and GREAT looking pen Kevin!!

Was it stabilized? I have some that isn't and one that is. I have not tried turning any of it yet.

Nice. That wood is really cool. The pattern reminds me of a stonelike pattern.
