I also always paint the back side of paper labels, stamps and etc. It helps them not get transparent in resin like some paper will do. If the wood is dark, it can darken the label as it soaks up the resin. This way the label and image stay brighter in appearance.

John answered with the same reason I do. I think it also helps keep the colors bright. I go through several procedures when building a blank. Not that I take more pride but it works for me. I'm sure there's probably something I could do to make it quicker or easier but I'm not trying to make a living. I'm just staying busy while retired.

Those hand held correction ribbon tapes work great also. You just have to keep putting that little strip down next to each other until it's all covered. No drying time needed. Just be careful when next to the edges or use a razor blade to lightly scrape any unwanted tape off.
