Does the one on the bottom look more realistic?
Trying a different approach.

Interesting.....
For those who said top, is this an improvement?
I darkened it more and cut in more lines.
My attempt here is to simulate the wrapper of the cigar as it turns white and develops cracks as it shrinks.

I like the top one, but i think the bottom looks more realistic (I've barely smoked 2 cigars in 55 years, so i am not the best to judge). Awesome work!

Thanks all for your comments and help.

I guess I'll have to try something else.

I went back to my previous method and finished this one out.

the wood is redwood burl that was NOT stabilized and it is about a 58 ring size. Even though it is big around it is light. Being not stabilized it is also more susceptible to damage. Seem is also more pronounced because I cannot make the edges as sharp. Not my best work but I'll keep it for the last one in 2018.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Dale
