I fyou get the Nova G3 with accessory jaws extra kit, it comes with cole jaw ans bunch of other jaws. It wil help you out a lot since you are trying to turn pens. I tcan hold small blanks in the long nose jaws. Right now it is on slae for 179.99 at Woodcraft instead of $298 it should last you a long time. Of course you need to get the adaptor to fit your particular headstock spindle and in the future you only have to change the adaptor for your new lathe and you are back in business.and as you grow in turning you can add other jaws tht wil fit it. If you want to do bigger stuff like bowls and larger items then you wil need to get the super Nova2. I am not sure if it's on sale right now. I got bothe of them and like them a lot.
