I have been making pens and razor handles for the past year or so, but I want to try out some other stuff. I am really interested in maybe calls or possibly a bowl. I need to get a chuck and I just don't want to get one that wont do the job. What are some good options for me. Easier the better less expensive also, just because this is a hobby and not a job. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Dan,

I can't seem to see Archives, so I don't know how to get there ....

.... can you tell me please :)

Ben welcome to the forum, I think a good place to start is what model lathe do you have? I started with a Barracuda 2 chuck from PSI and have been very happy with it. I bought it because that was what popped up on craigslist when I started looking for one. I've gotten a bigger lathe and bigger chucks came with it, like them too. I don't think there are too many chucks out there that I've heard bad things about, especially for light duty.

I really like my Supernova2, but a lot of people like their Oneways as well... I like the keyed handle, but some like Tommy Bars instead....

I think if you're getting something that has lots of accessories, and is easy to use, you can't go wrong!

Pick one in a price point you can afford, and check the reviews! :)
