christmas tree pen

has anyone here every made a pen out of christmas tree. I was able to pic up a few of there ends that they cut of before givivng them to the customer. I was thinking of after christmas there is a place here at the public park to get your tree turned to mulch and I thought that I could get a few of the tress from the pile but was not sure if they would be worth it. please let me know the pros and cons of it and thanks in advance

I might try that, I just turned a couple ornaments out of last years tree cut offs. I still have couple out there I could get some pen blanks out of

I've made pens out of 2x4 pine. They turned out really nice. I'm sure the same would hold true with a Christmas tree.

It might work. I know a guy who maked traincars for his kids out of the past years christmas tree. The oldest child (21yrs) has 21 cars and an engine, the next child (18 yrs old) has 18 cars and so on.

Now that would be so neat to see.

I had kicked the idea around, and I decided to skip it because of all the sap in them trees. It could work, and I may try it later, but it wasn't for me.

I thought about cutting them to size and giving them a wax bath to dry then try to turn it.

I sell pine cones, obviously that's Christmas trees, and they are cast in red/white/green Christmas colors. They are very popular!

I tried that, but the metal shavings were too much, I guess an artificial tree is not what you are meaning

I dont know the right metal lathe could probably do the trick with the artificial ones
