Hi and happy holidays from here. I'm fairly new to
turning, but this year I made a few gifts for my family
on the lathe. See pictures below.
(1) An ornament made from pine with cherry finials.
(2) A pen made from ficus with a cherry band.
(3) A pair of mini flower vases made from bubinga.
(4) A pair of votive candle holders made from ficus,
with a half size mini candle holder made from bubinga.
(5) A bell and bottle stopper made from purple heart.
(6) Christmas tree ornaments made from ficus and cherry.
I had fun doing the turning and I hope my family will enjoy them.
Why all the ficus? My neighbor cut down a ficus tree a
while back and gave me some of the trunk and it's
ready to use now. It's a softer wood that turns well and,
after a coat of shellac has some nice figure.
Anyway, that's it from here. Have a nice holiday.
