chipped CA

i did it, chipped the ca at the bushing as i snapped it off, a little half moon shaped chip, can i fix it ? or is it sand it all down and start again?

other than that the finish was great! i am finally getting the hang of it i think:curse:

I had the tiniest chip-out. No one except me would know it's there. I first used CA to fill it, but I ended up sanding it down. With the CA fill, I could still see the "depth" of the chip. Much more satisfied with the re-do.

Put some wax on your bushings. This will keep em from sticking to the blank.

I apply my finish between centers with no bushings because of that problem.

Don't "face" your blanks. After the pen is completely turned and your finish is complete, use the sanding device from Rick Herrell to sand the ends down to the brass---makes the ends "pretty" and flat.

I got called into work, so i didn't get back to it yet.
I just recently got an order from johnnycnc, 60 degree dead center, delran and steel between center bushings. could kick myself for not using them, i didn't even think of them.
This pen is a teachers pen, a gift for my wife's niece, brand new teacher in Paterson NJ ( maybe i should have turned her a gun instead this is the center section, purpleheart. the end sections i did in a black swirl and a red swirl plastic.
