Cherry burl fountain pen

I don't use wood often, but I had a piece of stabilized cherry burl I bought years ago, and figured I should try using it. I used black acrylic for the secondary material, and bronze for the trim. I hand engraved the clip and cap band with a diamond fan geometric pattern.
The nib is a jowo #6. A rose gold plated nib would probably match the bronze better, but I did not have one handy.

I finished the wood with several coats of lacquer, then wet sanded and buffed it. The blank has a small knot in it which I filled with bronze dust and ca glue.

I do love cherry, my favorite wood. Fortunately, cherry burl is not uncommon in the area I live which has allowed me to get hold of several in different stages of drying.
