cheapest black blanks

who has the cheapest black acrylic blanks? I'm using them for inserts in wooden pens and don't need anything fancy. just decent quality black acrylic.

WHOA! Is this for real? This is incredible! Cast is what I WANT to turn right? Extruded is a pain in the neck right? Isn't extruded what I had when I was playing Jedi pen man?

I think the cast is supposed to machine better.

I've had good luck with these. Onyx is the solid black. Note that you can get them in two sizes -- 5/8 and 7/8.

I would think that casting some solid black alumilite or silmar blanks would be the cheapest option.

Home casting PR would be even less expensive than Alumilite. BUT, threading PR is considerably more difficult than threading Alumilite.

Does anybody on here cast and sell alumilite? No way I'm getting into casting when so many other people around me already do it.

I just fill a couple of 1" x 5" pvc tubes with dyed acrylic resin, and have all the inserts I need for a long time.

I bought a bunch from the site mentioned above. The seller even returned some extra shipping $$ that I didn't realize being overcharged:wink:. The rods cut nice just like any other acrylic plastic.
