Is there a cheaper powered respirator that works as good as or close to the Trend air shield? I need to get something soon and the air shield pro is more than I can spend, so any help with something more affordable would be appreciated.

Mike; I run my dust collector with a nozzle and hood close to the work. This captures all the dust and shavings, and CA fumes especially.

The Trend is about the cheapest powered respirator you are going to find. Many professional respirators need a separate compressor / air supply.

How much do you value your health, is it worth the extra $$ for quality? There might be a bit cheaper ones around, but can you get spares when needed. One thing no one should do is compromise on health and safety. I lost my younger brother to lung cancer recently, caused by micro dust particles.
As Christmas is coming fast, why not ask the family to chip in and get you one!!!!

How about $75...

Mike,

Here's an inexpensive powered respirator. Great outfit, I'm there weekly for my woodworkers group meeting. Sign up for weekly deals!

In case this is messed up it's Peachtree Woodworking Supply, Norcross, GA

They've got a nifty little "half face" powered respirator for you. Item #1540.
There are some supplies offered separately with this.

First class outfit, woodworkers.

Let me know how you do if you buy this one.

I just purchased the TREND AIR/PRO Airshield and Faceshield Dust Protector" after speaking with a respiratory therapist. I turn quite a bit, use a bunch of deer antler and too, I can use it in the yard when I operate the mulcher, way dusty! Suppose to be here this Tuesday! It is expensive but a lot less than a "Iron Lung" and much less than the pain and agony accompanied with any sort of lung disease.
