This is a really cool blank from Jakob Jannsen on Etsy with dyed, stabilized cattail and thistle in it. It was a bit challenging, especially the cap, but worth the effort. The finial... ugh. I had to do that several times. The first one came out great, but it flew off the lathe to some other dimension of space and time. Getting another took 3 tries with the embedded thistle and that was with frequent application of ultra thin CA to soak in. I wish I would have painted under it as it came out a little more translucent than I'd like, but It still adds to the pen. The thistle looks like flames under a blacklight. The finish is 4 coats of GluBoost pro (the blue label). It leveled off well enough that I didn't use any topcoats of thin. Polished with Zona grits. Most everyone here will be familiar with the Diamond Knurl rollerball kit by now. The inside of the blanks were painted black.
