This is a Cat pen in chrome from PSI. Lots of cool feline details. The wood is limba, and the finish is Pens Plus.

Nice pen above, Jim .... as usual !! . :)

I note that you used Pens Plus as the finish. . I have just received some Pens Plus in an order so want to try it soon.

How many coats of Pens Plus did you use on the above pen ? . And how long did you wait between coats ?

Also, did you do any sanding or other treatment between coats ?

And then, after you were finished with the Pens Plus did you perform any other "final" operation ?

Thanks.

Hey Mal. Yes, I used it on this pen, and use it on all wood pens, including Color Grain and hybrids. I have yet to master the CA finish, and not sure I want to bother. I'm very happy with the results I'm getting. I apply three coats, as that's what was recommended in the Doctor's video. I don't know if more coats would make it more wear resistant or not. I also don't have a feel yet for how well it holds up. I know wearability is one of the benefits of CA.

I wait about a minute between coats, with no sanding or anything else between coats. And no other "final" operations. I apply it with a soft paper towel, using a clean spot for each coat. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I made this for my friend Olga, and engraved her cats' names on the pen. Gray looks smaller than Mielie, because of the "tail" of the "Y". I've encountered this before, and should have made it a little bigger. But it doesn't look too bad, and Olga will like it.
