Casting Resin

Still thinking about the perfect pen finish...it's a hard thing to get out of my mind. Perhaps there is no such thing, but my thoughts seem to focus mostly on plastics. There's alot of people here that use casting resins to make molds. I'm curious if anyone has tried coating a wood pen with clear casting resin? I don't even know if it's possible as maybe casting resin requires a compressed mold environment? Just a thought.

A few have tried and used dissolved acrylate and acetone. I don't know their long term results, but I remember someone writing that they liked it. It did cure quickly, if I remember correctly.

I've done some pens for business friends, where I turn the wood blank down smaller than the bushings, print their logo on a label, stick the label to the blank, then cast the whole thing. I then turn it down to proper size. It works fine, and you get the look of the burl around the logo.
