I have a friend that's an aspiring painter and he painted a couple tubes that I would like to cast in PR. On one tube he used acrylic paint and on the other he used water colors.

My question is, should I use something to seal the painted tubes prior to casting with PR?

I would. The first thing I would try is thin ca. Get him to paint a couple of tubes with the paint he uses to see if the ca is going to react to the paint. If that goes well then I would do the same with the real thing. I have found the PR will dissolve or wrinkle a lot of paints. I would feel better messing up a tube with blotches on it than a piece of art. Good Luck.

I am sure they need to be sealed and i will not give you any suggestions because I do not know. But can suggest first always do a trial before committing to the real thing. Also you may want to contact Marla (aka Cricket) She does things like that. Here is a past post that had some painting of the tubes in it. Not sure if that helps.
