So, this one was interesting. It was still really soft and rubbery when I drilled it out, so I glued in tubes and left it to cure some more. Got it turned okay, and after I did all of my MicroMesh work, I used some liquid car polish I got at the dollar store. I must say, I think this was the solution to the sub-par finishes, especially with pens that are really just billboards for various resins and acrylics.

Looks great, I really like the finer swirls.

I use Meguiar's "Ultra Cut Compound" then Plastix after MM with great results, car polish FTW...

My next trick will be trying to get better definition between colors. Probably waiting a hair longer to pour and adding less heat with a longer wait. Most of the color mixing is from convection.

I'm having a problem keeping up with you Allan. I do see improvement with your progress. Not that I'm an authority. I just like what I'm seeing.

Thanks! It'll be a while before I get dialed in on pens that are up to the stuff you've been up to, but I tend to try to exand my own horizons rather than compete.

Hey I was looking at your photo, and believe me I am far from an expert on photo taking, but a couple things I noticed. You have the huge shadow in the front, and you have something beyond the sheet in the top left corner. IMO this makes the pen look better.

I finally took the time to make a photo box, but have to work on lighting.

It is a realy cool looking cast.

As I've said many, many times I'm rocking a fast and cheap setup. I don't do anything more than lay the pen on a white t-shirt and hit it with the point&shoot. I WISH I could kill the flash on it, but no such luck.

Yeah I just noticed that in others. I actually kind of like the line in it, it gives off a "shine factor". I will send you a PM with an idea for you, basically the same thing I am working on.

I for one just do not have the heart to spend the money for a nice photo booth. Most of the pictures I have posted on here, or anyplace else were with my camera phone, just passing time. So I have a lot of work on mine.

I am behind on seeing your casts. Looks really good man! So far ahead of where I am at on that stuff lol. Very well executed!

I think it was really the combined Brooks demo and a bit of good luck more than anything else that's getting results. So far it's great, but the horizontal casting is showing its limitations. Gotta fix that fairly soon.
