I ordered this piece of Casein from ExoticBlanks and it came the other day. I took my time working with it because I was afraid I would destroy it with that last fine cut. This stuff is great to work with. The picture is horrible as it is more glossy in person.

Steve, is casein very brittle or does it turn like a poly resin?
It looks like an antique. I'd love to order some soon. I just keep putting it off.

Thanks for the comments! I didn't find Casein brittle at all. It turned very easily, of course I was very careful to keep my tools sharp and I took my time since it is one of the more expensive blanks I've ever used. I didn't put a finish on it, I used my buffing wheels to polish it.

Like the resins, I always suggest starting with the "corners". Turn the ends down, close to finished size. Then, if you get "chip outs", as you take down the rest of the blank, they are not likely to be deep enough to affect your final pen size.
