I need advice on purchasing carbide turning tools. I have seen posts previously but cant seem to find them. I would like to purchase from a member. I have my first large order and need more quality tools, I don't want to be constantly sharpening!
Thanks everyone

I've been pleased with my tools from hanau (John Austin), good value. I am, however, intrigued by Bob's Magical Skew.

My current preference is to rough with John's "finisher" (round), and finish with a HHS skew in scraping mode--haven't sanded any wooden blanks since I got the hang of that. But I can't seem to get the hang of using a skew as a skew!!

Another vote for Hanau (John)

I asked a LOT of questions before I bought anything.
I did a lot of research before I invested my money too.
I'd put John's tools up against any of the big boys like EWT.

I am not paid for saying this, although it would be nice to.

Don't forget to get a diamond sharpening stone if you don't already have one. Carbide inserts are easy to sharpen and can be done several times before you need to buy a new insert.
