I am using plexi with acetone in a mason jar to stabilize some wood. I pull vacuum with a brake bleeder. It works great the only thing I am having problems with is keeping a good seal on the jar. The acetone eats right through it. It there anything I can use that will work better?

Mike, I had the same problem with my pickle jar. I took an innertube and cut a donut gasket, and then used a 3/4" piece of lexan (it didnt dissolve with acetone) and just drilled a hole like I did with the lid. It will sit fine, and the vacuum holds it in place.

Actually I have talked to lots of plumbers - they say the best stuff to use is pipe dope - you can get at the Homer it's called Pipe Thread Sealant - it's in a yellow tube - just make sure to only put it on the threads so NONE of it gets into the fittings
