The wife is works at a warehouse and a few people know I make pens. She doesn't know who did it but she found these 2 pieces of wood in her backpack. They are about 10" long. They don't really feel like a hardwood and I don't think it's pine but I could be wrong. Anyone have a guess?
Thanks, Bobby

Based on the side view, Poplar came to mind but it's really hard to tell in a warehouse where crates and pallets can differ based on where they are from.

Thanks for the responses y'all. I may have to dig into my totes to see if I have any blanks that resemble them. Lol I'm also gonna have the wife ask some of her associates. Maybe one will come forward. Lol

Hmm. Not sure as I'm far from a wood expert but I go with Bradford pear. Crates and skids and be made of anything, depending on local sources. Knew of one fellow who had a pallet from Asia with mahogany runners. All I can say it, it's an accumulation of cellulose fibers.
