I am interested in learning how to do the bottlecap pens. I assume you have to cut off the jagged edge and bend it somehow.
Can someone make a Tutorial on bottlecap pens?

I would leave edges on..just get a hard piece of wood and put caps face down and use hammer to flatten out edges. Then spin a piece hardwood to be same size as tubes. Put cap over hard dowel and form it around with a wood mallet so you don't damage caps. Mix up some 5 min epoxy and glue to tubes with a rubber band to hold it down. Make sure no squueze out, let glue dry, cast with PR. For tubes in Pr I would powder coat

I don't think I have seen a "bottle cap pen". Interesting, idea. Hope a search will bring up one for me to look at.

Mike, I wouldn't bet on that! I did know what you meant, and I even have heard of them, but I can't find an example of one.
Be carefull what you assume! I'll bet a poll about "bottle cap" pens would have a greater percentage that have never seen one than those that have.

I've only seen one on Barry's site. So unless you have been there, you may not know about them, and if you missed the firestorm on the watch parts....... consider yourself lucky.

I know nothing about any of this stuff, but my theory of how to build one will cost you no new tool investments, as you should already have some hard maple and a wood mallet in the shop. Bottle caps do not require that much force to bend them, especially once you pound out the serrated edging. The application of a bottle cap is no different than a label, a coin, gears, an insect, it's all glued objects cast clear over a tube, and casting objects in clear resin is something that has been done long before man was walking on two feet. ie "Amber".
