Homebrew PR cap and also inside the cartridge. It'll be in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

I didn't notice the pr in the cartridge at first. Thought it was a reflection. Then thought hey... how's it on the other side of the cartridge too? I don't know about powder coating but seeing how you can bake a chocolate chip cookie from cold to done in 10 minutes at 350 degrees... I think the pr would be a cookie shaped pile of goo. I'd just use some Novus and Ren wax on it to be safe. BTW very nice work!! [8D]

You don't need to do the cap. Powder coating is basically a thin coat of plastic.

I would take some similar PR and give it a test run before risking that piece of art.

If you make a similar pen you probably want to PC the brass before introducing the PR.

I think I'll take your advice Scott and try a sample first. The reason I thought about doing the cap is continuity. I'm afraid if I don't do both pieces the finish won't match. As far as powder coating the brass first, I thought about that but this was an experiment and I didn't expect it to turn out this nice. Now I want to save it! Headed to the shop now to turn another cap and try it in the oven.

Well, I think this gets a big fat "FAIL". The next one I'll try powder coating the brass first. If that doesn't work than it's the old reliable lacquer. I kinda like it so I need to figure out a process that works so I can make more!
I think I'll post a photo over at SOYP and see what everybody thinks. Thanks for the help!
