Can ebonite be washed?

Is it ok if i put some ebonite threaded blanks in a waterbath to wash/clean them?

I do it with every pen (many of them ebonite) and have never had a problem.

With ebonite I've always been told cold water and soap was fine but avoid hot water because it can brown it

I believe I stand corrected. It's warm water that will change the colour of the ebonite.
I also just read that an ultrasonic can cause damage from its vibration. Even so, the ultrasonic will heat up the water by its vibration. So that makes it a bad idea.
