I want to thank the members who provided helpful advice concerning a suitable replacement for my old caliper (purchased years ago for reloading ammo).
First, however, I digress to note that Amazon has on its website a list of "calipers made in usa." The list does NOT do what it indicates.

I selected an iGaging caliper that had the features I wanted. Although iGaging has a Santa Clara, CA, address, the caliper I received was clearly marked "Made in China." Nevertheless, the tool feels solid, operates smoothly, perfect repeated return to zero and, as far as I can tell, is accurately calibrated. I am not disappointed in the tool, only in Amazon's misleading website.

It is pretty hard to find things on Amazon which are made in the USA. I usually open up the extra details section and look for country of origin, but it isn't listed always.

I'm guessing probably only starett are made in the USA. I think mitatoyo are made in Japan.

I looked on Amazon.
Starrett has a USA made caliper it is about 350$ the model is 120A. The A stands for American made.
There is another starrett one and it is about 130$. It has the same model number, but ends in f. So my educated guess is that one is foreign made.
