any tips on getting better pictures

Pens look nice from what can be seen. You have to focus or it is hard to get a good PIC. I set my camera on SPOT metering and auto focus. Hope that helps a little.

A little tweaking on Picasa3. about the best I was able to do. Read Gerry Rhodes Tutorial will give lots of good info on taking photos of pens.

Many cameras today allow for automatic exposure braketing, 3 exposures at different F stops. I have been doing this lately then selecting the best of the 3.
In photoshop I have been reading how you can combine the 3 exposures and get a greater range of tones.

So much to do, so few pills to help you do it.
