I am getting some laser engraving done and the logo has big areas that will be filled, has anyone ever used CA after filling the engraving? My thoughts is the fill will have to be completely dry but the CA would keep the fill from getting scratched etc. This is my first time getting any engraving done and not sure exactly what to do. I plan on using fabric paint for the fill unless there is something better. All comments welcome. Thanks for the help

When I have had engraving on a pen blank I didn't use anymore CA. I thought that with the "burn" into the blank, the color would hold, and the ones I still see, have held the color.

i have always covered with CA after engraving and fill. looks great and protects the fill gives the engraving some depth in my opinion. a little tip though. do not rub the first little bit on. let in run over the blank for a second and then dry prior to second and subsequent coats. . rubbing has sometimes run the fill depending on what was used.

I have yet to do any pen with laser engraving and color fill, so this info to cover with CA is good to have. A basic premiss for wood finishing is to never put a harder finish over a softer one, as it will usually lead to trouble. In this case, I believe the CA is harder (more brittle) than whatever is the color fill material. But, if it works, IT WORKS! Good to know.
