Recently I turned an Atlas pen for my girlfreind, and had enough material (acrylic) left over for a keychain, the finish was like
glass, but the problem is the keychain got scratched up after a couple of days from keys etc. Does anyone use a ca finish over
acrylic for durability issues? or are keychains in acrylic a bad idea? Thanks

CA is acrylic, so I don't know that it will be any better than the underlying acrylic alone. There would also be the possibility of it flaking off if the CA was thin.

I think you would have the same problem no matter what you made the keychain from. Just the nature of those things that anything on a keychain is going to get scratched. You might not notice it as much if you used steel wool to get a satin finish instead of a high gloss finish.

I'd give it a try.
From what little I have worked with acrylics they are rather easy to scratch with sand paper.
The same is not true about CA. Try to sand out marks on a blank after you have sealed it with CA using the same pressure on the sandpaper.
