First off, thank you to everyone who helped me with my CA sanding sealer problems, everything is just great on that front now. Even my CA/BLO finish is going great, the only problem I have now is how do you do a CA/BLO finish on something with grooves? I am turning a key ring for the wife, and most of the time when I apply the finish, it fills the grooves, then I have to use the parting tool to clean them out again. The grooves are fairly deep, that is what she wanted, and I used a parting tool to do them. Has anyone come across a better way of doing this? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Thanks Jim, I think next time I'll try using a skew to clean out the grooves instead of the parting tool. It looks like this last time I just did it the CA finish was actually chipping off, which was another problem I had but didn't realise it until now. Sometimes I would get a narrow white line just on the edge of the groove, and now I think it was chipping caused by the parting tool. So I'll try the skew and see if there is any improvement.

Well for those who are reading this post wondering how things turned out, I'll not keep you in suspense. By using the skew first I was able to score the edges of the grooves so it wouldn't chip the CA/BLO finish. But I still had to use the parting tool to clean out the grooves, but this worked out really well. No more chipping and the grooves look much better. Watch the pen photo section, as I will be posting a picture of my latest 2 pens and the key ring with grooves, so you can see how it turned out. If you can still think of any other ways to try to improve this please voice your opinion or suggestions. I won't know how any of them work unless I try them. And most of you are way more accomplished than I. So don't be shy. LOL. Maybe I'll also show you that I am progressing, even if it is slowly.
