I usually finish my pens with CA. Should I use it on Aspen? I rarely turn a wood that is this light colored. The wood is rather soft. What finish would you recommend?

Gee, Al, I've never been able to afford Aspen. I know a guy, though and he said always wear Oakleys on the slopes. I would recommend the best skis you can afford and look for a discount ski clothes store before you go because I would think the stores in Aspen would be really expensive.

:D:D:D:D:D:D;)

I'm not sure the people of Aspen would appreciate all that CA, Cav.

Doc, though I'm not a huge CA finish user, I will say that CA is probably THE best finish for aspen---- CA does not (so much as I've ever seen) turn yellow. Most other clear finishes will, especially lacquer and polyurethane.

And as stated, it does harden it up a bit.

You may run the risk of the CA cracking/flaking if the pen is dented badly--- most of the hard woods we use will shrug off a small ding but aspen may take a brutal hit, causing the brittle CA to behave as expected. Ie, don't drop the pen;)
