It has been getting more and more difficult lowering the blade on my Byrnes saw so I figured I'd share what I determined. First I blew out the little bit of sawdust that was under it. Cleaned off the threaded rod with a small wire brush and applied a light machine oil on all the pivot points I could find. This helped a little bit. Here's what actually fixed my issue. If you turn the saw upside down, directly across where you use the Allen wrench tool to lock the blade in place, there is a hex head bolt. I loosened that bolt and applied with a syringe some penetrating oil. This point is aluminum on aluminum and the saw is made with such tight tolerances I don't think I was getting any lubrication down into where it mattered. I snugged it back up and now the blade easily lowers and raises. Thought I'd share my experience in case others run into this.

Sounds good. Just like our bodies we too need a little grease and oil at times. I like to use Bostik Dry Coat lubricant on my tablesaw and other tools. Been a good product or me.

Ken: Same problem and my fix for my Bynres saw , I use a dry coat lube like John uses. Works great.

In fact for my Delta Uni saw 10 inch this the same lube I have been using for years.
I tried a dry coat but it didn't work for me, at least in the spot that needed lubrication. On the threaded rod I'm sure it would work fine. I know Jim Byrnes recommended weekly oiling.
