On that last pen with no centerband and the full wood body (Bocote, I think), how do you change the refill ?

One possibility would be to bore the lower half a little on the large side (and not glue to the lower brass tube) so that the whole barrel comes off the twist mech. to change refill. . I reckon that's how it's made.

That pen is longer than all the others ... another non-standard feature.

Yes ... if look close down by the tip and you can just make out the joint line.
That is the twist part and what you pull out to change the refill.
I cut some longer tubes as the standard SlimLine pen is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter than I prefer.
Usually make that up with the wood band.
I can do a photo of it pulled apart if you want.
